Item Description
First is 1" with small tear on edge of W&H back paper. He was a British evangelist who conducted campaigns there as well as in the United States. He was an early member of the Salvation Army and under the auspices of the Y.M.C.A. ministered to British troops in France often visiting the front lines for which King George VI made him a Member of the Order of the British Empire. This is an early button from 1909 evangelist event in Chicago with text "Gypsy Smith Mission/To Win Men To Christ." Rare and Exc. displaying Mint. Second button is .5" picturing man captioned "J. Bruce Evans." Reverse has back paper by Hoegee of Los Angeles. A fixed horizontal bar pin is mostly missing but the cello remains Exc. As best as we can tell this man was a composer of religious songs, one of which was "His Grace Is Enough For Me."
