Item Description
17x23". c. 1910. Illustration taken from commissioned art work with artist's name and date "S W Price April 1881." Scene shows horse drawn stagecoach on mountain road stopped due to fallen tree. In foreground is man wearing vest with rolled up sleeves looking at what appears to be his second axe that did not do the job of chopping the tree, in the bkg. is a man on a galloping horse holding an axe over his head coming to the rescue. Caption at top reads "Waiting For A 'Kelly' Axe." Company logo appears at bottom right reading "Kelly Quality/Axes Hatches Hammers Scythes." This self framed tin sign shows lt. wear on far right side border. Cardboard back has printed cleaning instructions from "American Art Works/Coshocton, Ohio." Original string hanger on back. Appears to have once had an easel back option. Text at top and bottom remains bright yellow, crisp and clean. Appealing graphics. VF.
