Item Description
3.5x4x1.75" tall wood base has metal plaque with text “Presented To Mr. Jackie Robinson By The South Jersey Region Chock Full O’ Nuts Shareholders At The Cherry Hill Inn June 26, 1965." 9 7/8" tall polished white metal full figure of native American with arms crossed stands atop wood base with text just below his feet “Popai Oma Outstanding Merchandising Achievement." Exc. Robinson retired from baseball in December of 1956 and went to work for "Chock Full O’ Nuts", a lunch counter chain and coffee company, as the Vice President and Director of Personnel. He stayed with the company until February 1964 when he went to work with Governor Rockefeller. Popai refers to an International Trade Association for retail marketing which was founded in 1936 and awards gold, silver and bronze honors. A superb display piece and great personal artifact. Truly one-of-a-kind for one of baseball's most exceptional players.
