Item Description
This handsome print with unfaded green and yellow hand-applied color tints is one of only nine Pierce items shown in Hake’s Political Buttons Book III 1789-1916. It carries a 2005 value of $900. The print was once framed and measures 10x14" with at least a .5" margin all around. Produced probably soon after the 1852 election, the title is “President And Vice-President.” Bottom left has name N.Y.C. and Hartford addresses of lithographer “E.C. Kellogg.” Below the images of “Franklin Pierce” and “William R. King” are scenes of “Capitol” and President’s House.” Margins show scattered moisture marks most of which a mat would hide except for two vertical lines crossing through the word “President” at left and one crossing through the word “President” at right. A pair of barely noticeable 1/16" paper specks are off King’s cheek plus 1/8" surface dot off background to his right. No holes, no tears. Really quite clean overall and with great color accents. Rare.
