Item Description
Very rare 5.5x5-5/8" mailer with "Jack Armstrong" return address and additional text "Here Is Your G.I. Identification Tag With Details Of Wheaties Name-Your-Plane Contest." Mailer has tiny .5" tear on top edge barely showing and condition for a mailer is quite Exc. The mailer contains an eight page newsprint newspaper which unfolds to 10.25x11". This is "Volume One/Number 3" and because of the nature of the paper and its years spent folded when it unfolds there is small spit where the vertical and horizontal folds intersect at the center. From the front this shows very little although from the reverse the .75" long split is more obvious. While the paper has tanned, other than this split area, it is not at all brittle. The paper is filled with photos and club news as well a contest entry blanks and a state by state dealer listing. The primary premium is a 2" long flat silvered metal tag with opening for a chain. The metal has stamped tiny text "Official Member General Mills Cub Pilot Corps." In addition the piece has the stamped in name and address of who ordered the item. This is from the Joe Gura Premium Collection and thus it shows his name and Chicago address. A good bit of the silver luster is off the metal but all details remain clear. A rare piece from the war year of 1945.
