Item Description
7.5x10x11" tall mostly tin litho toy comes in box with nicely illustrated lid. Early 1960s. Lid features images of the house on all sides, other images include moon, bats and a fleeing skeleton. Box shows wear including scattered creases and edge wear, some black crayon streaks and magic marker markings, front edge/front panel splits that have been repaired/reinforced from inside. Box remains tight, still nice for display and rarely found. VG. The toy is among the best designed battery toys of all time. Extremely detailed and loaded with actions. These included a jumping cat, light up window with ghost, front door opens to reveal a witch, window shade opens, house shakes, skeleton pops out of the chimney, produces both "spooky" and "whistling wind" sounds. All actions are controlled by levers on one side of base and all work perfectly. Detailed lithography includes weathered facade, cobwebs, bats, 2 black cats out front, witch on broom inside window, etc. Extremely minor wear only noticeable upon close inspection. Overall a superb, working and Exc. example of the classic toy. The only boxed example we have offered in our 45 years.
