Item Description
1950s premium ring in bright yellow plastic with the “Poll Parrot” logo on the top of the red hinged lid. The lid lifts up to reveal a fully three dimensional Howdy Doody head on the underside. The interior of the ring base has a red foam insert within the small compartment that holds Howdy’s head when the movable top panel is closed. The ring is also known with a red base and yellow top. While the ring displays Mint with either the top closed or the top open showing Howdy’s head, the top panel is easily separated from the ring base. At its base are a pair of nearly microscopic plastic prongs and one of these has a slight bend to it. For this reason, its grip on the matching insertion hole is a little less stable than it should be, allowing the ring top to pop off. With careful handling or for display, this is not a problem whatsoever but if the ring is bumped then possibly the top detaches. A scarce ring c. mid-1950s.
