Item Description
7/8” button has backpaper by maker W&H used only 1898-99. Front displays hand with exceedingly tiny text, readable only with magnification, designating such areas of the palm as “Reason, Line Of Life, Mound Of Venus” and many others. A tiny bit of dark stain obscures the first 2 letters of the title “Palmist” but the upper edge of the button with just a little trifle stain displays the name “Dr. Carl Louis Paren.” Dr. Paren was a famous palm reader, author of books about Palmistry, mind reader and hypnotist. Other than the example in the color plates of Collectible Pin-Back Buttons, this is the only one we’ve seen. Rare.
