Item Description
"A Gentleman's Gentleman" originally appeared in the Jun., 1941 issue of Good Housekeeping. Walt Disney, in arrangement with Good Housekeeping, produced the one-page adaptations from 1934-1944 to promote their animated shorts. This is detailed in the book "Walt Disney's Mickey And The Gang - Classic Stories In Verse" by Gemstone Publishing. The beautiful, fully-painted art has titles "Walt Disney Mickey Mouse - A Gentleman's Gentleman." Art comes in attractive gold wood frame with plexiglass cover, overall size is 25x31.5". Piece features both Mickey Mouse and Pluto. Done in 2 large panels with 2 and 3 scenes per panel. Scenes show Pluto as Mickey's butler, pushing breakfast cart, pouring Mickey his morning tea only to walk off of bed, onto cart which of course flips, injuring Pluto. Last scene shows Mickey taking care of a bandaged Pluto, who has an ice bag on his head, stars and a planet swirling about it. Slight streak of discoloration by Pluto's head at top of second panel, o/w displays Exc. as framed and is ready for display. This art was originally part of an exhibit and subsequent auction in 1987 by The Alexander Gallery of New York. A very nice quality hardcover book was produced for the exhibit and a copy of that book also comes along with art. 8.5x11" book features a total of 65 pieces of Good Housekeeping art noting titles and original appearance dates. Exc. Also comes with a complete copy of the Jun., 1941 Good Housekeeping magazine and a 5.25" tall limited edition "Walt Disney's Cartoon Classics" porcelain figurine depicting Pluto pushing breakfast tray to Mickey who is in bed. Walt Disney name as well as cartoon name and 1941 date emblazoned on base. Exc.
