Item Description
First is 1.5” superb multicolor of young boy and girl seated on pair of grazing ponies. Issued by publication aimed at farm women and titled “The Farmer’s Wife” with button given to members of “The Pony Club.” Reverse has tiny nick on W&H backpaper which dates to c. 1915. Button is Exc. and displays Mint. Second is 1.75” button also reading “Pony Club Member” and also from “St. Paul Minn.” but the sponsor is “Uncle Jerry’s Pony Club” and we don’t know if this is related to the magazine The Farmer’s Wife. Covered back and bar pin c. 1915. Exc. and displays Mint. Last is another 1.75” also issued by “Farmer’s Wife” publication but this is for a “Pony Contestant.” This button has dark circle of stain on its outer edge and at the center is a faint tan impression of the very large (the largest we’ve seen) “Union Label” stamped into the reverse metal. While the tanning obviously shows, the button still retains full gloss and it’s the only example we’ve ever seen. Hake Book Collectible Pin-back Buttons photo example Horses Section #126, #127, #129. Comes with Hake’s COA.
