Item Description
Italian company Lars produced Disney dolls from the 1950s into the 1970s. The original patterns for these dolls in a smaller 20” size are reputed to have been created for Walt Disney himself, who gave them to dignitaries visiting the studio. In fact, one of these aforementioned dolls appeared along with Ward Kimble on an early Disney TV special. Lars dolls were licensed by Disney but they were not sold in the US which results in their rarity. Lars dolls are among the nicest Disney dolls ever produced. This matched pair of giant size dolls stand nearly 4’ tall at 44” each. Stuffed felt with wire inserts for posing. Detailing includes tuft of hair on top of Mickey’s head, Minnie has eyelashes, hat with flower and bows on shoes. Each has large plastic eyes with pie cut design. One of Mickey’s eyes has 1” area at center with some hairline stress lines due to aging of plastic, a minor defect only noticeable upon close inspection. Back of one of Mickey’s ears has “Lars” foil sticker dated 1975 as well as “Made In Italy” sticker. Minnie has same Lars foil sticker on her back. Each shows just the slightest trace of aging but remains N. Mint, nearly as fresh as the day they were made. An unbelievably impressive pair of dolls, among the rarest produced by Lars and the only examples that we have ever offered in our 43 years.
