Item Description
.75x7/8” brass frame with engraved accents on each side surrounding beveled edge glass cover over black bkg. with gold text reading “In Memory/Of A/Friend.” While the sentiment is generic, there is a chance it may also relate to the 1841 death of President Harrison who died a month after his inaugural. Brass-covered reverse is without a pin and the catch that would have held it is also snapped off. Front of the piece has just a few scattered tiny 1/16” scratches on the glass cover which show only in reflected light but with normal viewing the front of the piece displays clean and VF. The only mourning brooch with an inscription we’ve seen from the 1840 era.
