Item Description
15x21.25” page has superbly detailed penciled illustration to the cover of Dell’s “The Lone Ranger” comic #79 from Jan., 1955. This Christmas-themed cover features Lone Ranger driving stagecoach loaded with presents and Christmas tree. Art slightly differs from final art used on cover as Lone Ranger does not wear buckskin-fringed coat and fur collar has been changed. Also a sprig of holly has been added to Lone Ranger’s hat and presents configuration has been slightly changed on finished cover. Art study done by Don Spalding with text “Study For Jan., 1955 ‘Lone Ranger’.” Despite the Jan., 1955 date, this issue was on stands in Dec., 1954, hence the Christmas theme. Page shows wear and aging to margins which does not affect art that only has tiniest trace of age spotting. Could be matted for Exc. display. Comes with Fine copy of actual comic. Beautiful art.
