Item Description
3.5x8.25x.75” deep mailing box with Williamson Candy Co. return address/mailing label. Box shows heavy and obvious wear with chips/tears and side panel flaps missing. Poor. Box contained extensive and nicely designed kit c. late 1930s-early 1940s. 3x4.25” 16-page “Junior Detective Wallet/Manual” describes all of the items in the kit. Plain stiff paper cover with bw contents. Attached on inside front cover is silver/black badge sticker. Booklet has provided lines for owner’s name and information though booklet remains unused and Exc. 2.5x8” long die-cut thick cardboard in bw/bright silver is marked “Oh Henry! Junior Lie Detector” and has scientific instrument illustration. This has instructions on back. “Meter” die-cut window is supposed to show a real indicator at zero mark but as item is held together by original staples, indicator moves by pulling provided string. Lt. wear but VF/Exc. 2.25x3-3/8’ envelope contains “Oh Henry! Junior Detective Finger Printing Powder” and remains sealed and Exc. Also provided are several 2x3” pieces of black paper for use in fingerprinting, 2.75” long generic plastic magnifying lens, both of which are Exc./N. Mint. The “handcuffs” consist of a small die-cut piece of stiff cardboard with notches for placement of thumbs and die-cut holes where string cord is inserted and tied. Exc. 3” dia., one-sided bw “Oh Henry! Junior Detective Secret Code” dial has corresponding code instructions listed in booklet. Exc. A rare kit.
