Item Description
Matching pair of 5x8” sepia toned photo cards depicting Eligio Sardinas Montalvo, aka “Kid Chocolate” and Eduard Darry, aka “Young Cullimber” both posed in boxing trunks with gloves on in a fighting pose. Both have been photographed by Bryant of New York. Both photo cards have boxers’ names and managers at bottom margin. Kid Chocolate was a Junior Lightweight Champion from 1931-1933 and the NY World Featherweight Champion from 1932-1934, winning a total of 131 bouts, losing only 9 with 6 draws. Young Cullimber is noted on his photo as being a “Sensational Cuban Lightweight” fighter. Both photos show obvious wear with staining along margins and creasing. 2” dia. circular stain on Cullimber. VG overall with Fine signature areas. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
