Item Description
28.5x29.25” frame contains original pen and ink art double-matted to 20.5x21.5”. 16-panel comic strip ran Sep. 8, 1935. Written and illustrated by Popeye creator E.C. Segar. Story deals with Wimpy finding mushrooms only to wonder if they are in fact toadstools. Wimpy decides to test them on Popeye who eats them. Wimpy then proceeds to ask Popeye how he’s feeling. Popeye catches on and fakes illness to which Wimpy leaves, leaving mushrooms behind much to Popeye’s laughing delight. This is one of the rare occurrences of Popeye out-smarting Wimpy. .25x4” streak of staining in second panel. Aside from lt. scattered aging, Fine/VF. Great, classic Popeye content.
