Item Description
11x14”. c. late 1950s-early 1960s. Metal zipper closure. Faux alligator skin cover with gold hallmark for the “Sales Winner Line” of the Gerlach-Barklow Co. Juliet, Illinois. Lt. wear to cover. Inside is velvet-lined with elastic strapping to hold in 70 advertising pencils in the front and back covers. Each is different. Various products/companies are used as samples including: Peter Pan Bread, June Dairy, Shell Oil, RCA, Carpenters, Retailers, Banks, Car Dealers, etc. Many novelty pencils are offered including: large nail, gavel-style eraser ends, hollow tubes holding toothpicks or pills. Three are bullet pencils. An interesting variety of sample pencils. All are Exc. with hardened rubber erasers. Also included are 3 sales brochures for these products. Lot also includes 8.5x11” 1958 catalogue. 48 pages. Numerous color illustrations of the products. Lt. wear. Inner velvet portion holds 20 sample ballpoint click pens with various advertising. Pens show some wear/discoloration from age. Pens VG to VF. An interesting offering. Overall Fine.
