Item Description
Lot of 4, typically 3.5x5.5” postcards. All c. 1920s. Two real photo postcards, first showing Charlie Chaplin as himself with lt. color tinting. Postcard has black ink inscription at border of photo and card shows some wear/aging. Fine. Second photo card has touching bw scene showing Chaplin as The Little Tramp with Jackie Coogan as The Kid. Embossed postal stamp at lower left. VF. Remaining 2 cards are full color illustrations, one showing Chaplin with martini glass and bottle of Rossi Italian Vermouth with American and Italian flags. Last card has image of smoking Charlie with woman with rather risqué message reading “You Know Mable, You’ve Got A Very Pretty Ankle” to which woman replies “My Dear Charlie, Your Thoughts Should Be Above Such Things.” Back of this card has pencil inscription and British stamp. Fine overall. From the Richard Merkin Collection and comes with Hake’s COA.
