Item Description
10.5x11.25” image area on 12.5x12.75” artboard. c. 1900. Although Colorado was strongly in favor of the silver standard and William Jennings Bryan in 1896, support faded for the silver standard in the years to follow. By 1900, Wolcott had spoken against the silver standard in favor of gold to the dismay of many of his Colorado supporters. Wolcott is depicted holding a dagger with dripping blood as a lady identified as “Silver” holds her side with blood dripping from her dress. Penciled printer notations appear in margins and on back. Lt. surface dust. Overall Fine.
