2.5x10” illustrated envelope contains 9.75” long rocket issued by Hikes Chocolate Coated/Malt Coated Wheat Cereal c. 1937. Envelope includes illustration of the rocket speeding through space with text that includes “Speed Gibson Says Eat Hikes.” Envelope shows moderate scattered wear with jagged 2” tear along left margin. VG. Rocket has balsa wood body with printing on each side plus additional “Eat Hikes” imprint on one side with same text that appears on the envelope. Stapled to the back of the rocket are a pair of die-cut cardboard tail fins, one with operating instructions printed on the back. Also has an attached metal weight on front. Missing a generic launching stick with rubberband. One side of rocket has a few minor stains/remnants of original rubberband but other side with text is free of such defects. Exc. display. Rare.
