Item Description
15.75x22” sheet has been mounted to 17x23” black posterboard for display. Published to promote the 12-chapter 1933 Sol Lesser-produced 12-part serial that starred Buster Crabbe in his only performance as Tarzan. This serial was also released as a feature film which comprised the first 4 chapters of the serial. Promotional item sent to movie theaters shortly after the film’s Aug. 11, 1933 premiere to promote its initial success. Text includes “Buster Crabbe In ‘Tarzan The Fearless’ Makes New Box Office History At The Roxy Theatre New York. Acclaimed By The Critics And Public.” Bw photos of line of children waiting to see film outside of The Roxy and busy street scene in front of The Roxy with Tarzan marquee included in addition to photo of Crabbe as Tarzan with Jacqueline Wells. Additional bw photo shows “A Walking Ballyhoo,” a man wearing loincloth and placard reading “Tarzan - Walking To Hollywood Via The World’s Fair.” Folded in quarters, likely as issued with aging along fold lines. .25” chip out of top center margin.
