Item Description
7-1/8x10-3/8” typed letter on “Four Star Films, Inc.” letterhead dated Jun. 3, 1959. Letter was to boxing champion Billy Soose and reads in part “If You Remember In Your Letter You Asked About Getting Into Television Or Movies. I Think I Know You Well Enough To Answer You Honestly. My Advice To You Is That You Are In Much Better Shape In What You Are Doing Than In Trying This Racket. This, As You Know, Is Worse Than The Fight Game…Competition Is Something Awful. I Hate To Be So Frank But That’s The Only Way I Know To Be.” Letterhead has additional “Office Of Dick Powell - President” notation. Powell is best noted as an actor, producer and director as well as a studio boss as indicated by this letterhead. Powell has signed his first name in blue ink at the provided area and letter has been folded horizontally twice. Bottom fold slightly intersects Powell’s signature but overall letter displays Fine/VF. Comes with original mailing envelope with matching Jun. 3, 1959 postal cancellation. Envelope has slightly uneven opening and all-over aging. Fine-. Comes with Hake’s COA.
