Item Description
Lot of 2 magazines. Oct., 1948 Halloween issue measures 5.5x8.25” and features great Halloween theme cover with Tim standing with Superman who scolds witch. Interior of book has Superman Schwinn bicycle contest which features nice large images of Superman and Schwinn bike. Also features odd note of 300 midget turtles as second prizes. Issue has some inking throughout including on front cover of Superman’s face and his “S” shield logo. Lt. handling wear with some minor rust soiling at staples. VG/Fine. Second issue is Feb., 1949 and measures 5.25x8-3/8”. Cover features great image of Tim as George Washington about to chop down a cherry tree as Superman flies in to stop him. Light wear with two 1/8” age spots to front cover but Fine overall. At center of magazine is Superman-Tim contest to win Cocker Spaniel. Both issues include games, activities and comic strips and were both published by National Comics Publications Inc. under license to Tim Promotions Inc. These small format magazines were mailed to boys living in areas served by local clothing/department stores to promote trips to the boys clothing departments of the stores doing the mailings.
