Item Description
10x13-5/8" with 40 pages. Published by Foster Art Service Inc. This is a 1960s reprint of Blair's first book, published in 1948. Publisher note on inside back cover notes "Preston Blair, Cartoon Director, Is One Of The Finest Artists Of Animation. Associated With The Disney Organization, He Animated In 'Pinocchio,' 'Bambi,' and 'Fantasia.'" In the latter, he designed the hippos. Later for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, he designed and animated the highly successful "Red Hot Riding Hood" and directed cartoon shorts. Book deals with various animating techniques and includes several of Blair's characters that he animated including Red Hot Riding Hood demonstrating "The Strut," and a scene showing character bearing strong resemblance to alligator in "Dance Of The Hours" sequence in Fantasia. These characters were readily identifiable in first editions of the book, second editions having characters re-drawn to make them less distinct though some are still clearly recognizable. Original price and store sticker on front cover. Pinch creases to spine but book is Exc. overall. Great content.
