Item Description
America’s favorite little rich boy first appeared in Little Dot #1 in 1953. The character sat around for a while until he was given a few appearances in Harvey Hits (which was Harvey’s version of DC’s Showcase, a try-out book that was the proving ground for unproven characters). Those issues didn’t turn out to be big sellers, but there was still enough interest to ultimately give Richie his own book a few years later. From there, he took off. Harvey would usually have their characters appear in several other titles, but nobody comes close to the dozens of books that have seen publication with Ritchie’s name in the title. At last tally, the total number of books that have appeared with his name in the title is over 50. He is truly an American phenomenon. From movies to TV to cartoons to digest-sized comics, anything with his name on it has sold. This first issue firmly established the Richie Rich formula. The covers always featured a wonderful gag inspired by his untold fortunes and Richie was always smiling, even when the joke was on him. The pages are off-white. The book is CGC-certified VF- 7.5.
