Item Description
The Masonite board sign with silk-screened design on the front is 12x18" and has original attached 23" long wood pole for insertion in a home produce garden. c. 1942. Text reads "This Is A Victory Garden/Pests...Keep Out!" Depicts Donald as a farmer saying "Scram" to a hen and worm. Made by W.L. Stensgaard & Associates Inc. Moderate edge wear with small chip to top and bottom left-hand corners. Top left corner also has 1" area with some paint loss and additional small chip. Sign's surface shows some other scattered wear/aging but colors remain bright and strong. The pole was originally held in place by 2 nails, one still firmly attached while the other is bent and loose but could be easily replaced for a more sturdy reinforcement. Fine. Rare and only the second we've seen in our 40 years.
