8.5" tall with built-in key by Modern Toys, Japan 1930s. Plain bottom is clean and tight with a few creases. Lid has corner splits and extensive insect damage although image of soldier is still complete. VG. Toy works and soldier raises and lowers gun as if firing while head nods. He is dressed in period Japanese soldier outfit including helmet with star. Only a few small areas of paint wear. Beautiful overall condition and paint. Exc. An impressive toy. First we've seen of this pre-war Japanese toy.
