Item Description
10" long painted cast iron with wood wheel hubs and rubber tires. 1920s. Modeled after early Mack bulldog trucks. Has markings including "Hubley" and "Bell Telephone" plus doors cast in bed marked "cable, tools, knobs," etc. Gold accents on "Bell Telephone" raised letters and door hinges 95% present. Has light oxidation on inside of truck bed and roof of cab, heavier oxidation on plated water barrel. Tires have typical discoloration, heavy stress lines and flat spots although all are intact. Fine. Accessory pieces include trailer with original telephone pole and spring holder, plated shovels, painted ladder and post hole auger digger. Shovels have moderate oxidation, ladder has moderate paint chipping. Some missing paint on auger motor body and trailer. Light oxidation on auger screw and handle. Tires of trailer heavily stressed but intact. Missing from the accessories that came with this truck is an A-frame which also helped to hold the auger. Replacement A-frame and new tires readily available from toy parts dealers. Accessories grade VG to Fine. Nice, almost complete example of this the largest of several Bell trucks by Hubley.
