Item Description
This original owner group includes every U.S.A. Savings Club item we are aware of issued between 1950 and 1952 with exception of a couple mailing envelopes and the “Honor Member” button (which we offer as #1157 from the Hake Collection). The included buttons are five Exc. to Mint, 1-3/8” lithos for lower savings amounts, the rare and large 2.25” lithos for highest two ranks of “Straw Boss” (near mint) and “Foreman” (mint) plus the 3” litho (near mint) worn by tellers at the bank. Four other rare items from 1952 relate to club member achieving “Honor Member” status. First is letter from Industrial State Bank of Kalamazoo, Mich. explaining how current member receives “Honor Member” button by recruiting one new savings account holder for the bank or three new accounts for the “Honor Member” wallet. Second is envelope plus one “New Member Enrollment Card” to be filled out by current and new enrollee. Third is 3.25x4.25” diagonally-cut 3-D simulation wallet-designed paper folder that also shows “Honor Member” button on reverse. Fourth is actual wallet. Box lid covered by light stain marks. Wallet itself has split spine with tape stain; however, inner folder keeps wallet front and back halves intact and the gorgeous brass plate on the wallet front has mint luster with NM decal. On inside coin compartment “Find The Lucky Coin” paper insert is still in place as is the aluminum Good Luck Token. The final six paper items relate to basic club membership. These are 8x10” color Hoppy photo (“Barbara” on top margin), 8x10.5” membership letter from Hoppy, 8x10” bank-issued member certificate (member’s name typed in), 3x5” folder detailing seven levels of club membership (Tenderfoot through Foreman) which has 1” dia. damage area on interior center panel missing couple of paper flakes, plus a membership card with typed name and a birthday card sent to member from Hoppy with Los Angeles 1951 postmark. A remarkably complete group, all but the box/wallet and one folder in Exc. to Mint.
