Item Description
1.5x1-5/8" embossed brass frame complete with suspension ring at top holding tintype of him in military uniform. From a series of political and military leaders issued c. 1860 but an excellent means to represent this 1852 presidential candidate shown on a large tintype. Image is a little dark as issued but details are clear. Emulsion surface in reflected light has extensive craze lines but these are minute and viewed straight-on don't show at all. The only actual loss of emulsion is a 1/8" scratch at the very bottom edge. Reverse has pink paper label with text "Lieut. Gen. Winfield Scott. Faithful To The Last." Overall VF and usually the suspension ring is missing.
