Item Description
DeWitt-Sullivan 1840-2. The only example we have seen in copper rather than white metal. The piece was designed by Francis Mitchell and condition is about uncirculated and unholed. The obverse reads "Success To The Fair Sept. 8, 1840" and surrounds a wreath of clouds enclosing the Bunker Hill Monument surrounded by rays. The reverse shows a battle scene and reads "Bunker Hill 17 June 1775."
