Item Description
19.5x27" frame contains pen and ink original art for April 2, 1944 Sunday page w/art by "Nancy" creator Ernie Bushmiller. The character of Nancy first appeared in the strip "Fritzi Ritz" about the air-headed flapper title character. Sunday pages features 14 panels (not including title panel) and story has Sluggo finding handbag on sidewalk only to be dismayed that it is empty. Beings that it was April Fool's Day, he goes to Nancy and they decided to have some fun. They prank first one man and then a woman before another man comes up and opens the bag, pulling money, pearls and a gold watch out of it, much to Nancy and Sluggo's dismay. The two walk away sobbing as last panel reveals man is "Prof. Zippo - Famous Magician," who chuckles at having taught them a lesson. Nancy appears in five panels, Sluggo in 10. First panel has title paste-over which shows aging. Small spot of surface paper lift between panels, but art remains unaffected and displays Exc. as professionally matted and framed. Ready for display. Nice page prominently featuring the two main characters of the strip.
